Peter Orth
Associate Professor (Iowa State University), Scientist, Ames National Laboratory; Algorithms Focus Area Lead Team Member, SQMS
Peter Orth is a theoretical condensed-matter physicist working on predicting and understanding properties of quantum materials. He places an emphasis on their nonlinear response and non-equilibrium dynamics. His research interests are broad and span from exotic magnetism to unconventional superconductivity to magnetic topological phases.
At SQMS, Peter is a co-leader in the Algorithms Thrust and develops quantum computing algorithms for complex many-body systems. His current research focus at SQMS includes NISQ algorithms for simulation of ground-state properties and quantum dynamics of many-body models, such as frustrated quantum magnets.
