Peter Hopkins
Physicist and Project Leader, NIST; Materials Focus Area Team Member, Devices Focus Area Team Member, SQMS
Areas of Expertise: Quantum Devices, Radio Frequency Superconductivity, Condensed Matter Physics, Quantum Computing
Thrust: Technology
As part of the Superconductive Electronics Group at NIST, Peter Hopkins leads the Flux Quantum Electronics project that investigates microwave superconducting circuits for wireless communications metrology and advanced classical computing for quantum information. His team’s SQMS role is to collaborate on the design, fabrication and testing of resonators, qubits and other superconducting quantum circuits to understand sources of qubit decoherence and devise materials, devices, packaging and measurement protocols that maximize qubit coherence times.
