Daniela Tuinetti
Professor and Department Head, University of Illinois Chicago
Dr. Daniela Tuninetti is a Professor and the Head of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC). She joined UIC in 2005 and has served in progressively senior roles, including leadership of the department since the Fall 2019 semester.
Dr. Tuninetti received her Ph.D. in Telecommunications Engineering in 2002 from Télécom ParisTech in Paris, France, following M.S. degrees in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering from Politecnico di Torino, Italy. She completed postdoctoral research at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne in Switzerland prior to joining UIC.
Her research focuses on network information theory and wireless communication systems, including fundamental limits of multi-terminal networks, cache-aided networks, distributed coded computing, low-latency and high-reliability communications, and co-design of communication and sensing systems. Her recent work includes expanding from classical to quantum information theory.
Dr. Tuninetti has been awarded significant research funding, including multiple NSF grants. Her honors include an NSF CAREER Award, the (University of Illinois system) University Scholar Award, and UIC College of Engineering research and advising awards.
