M. Sohaib Alam
Research Scientist, NASA Ames; Algorithms Focus Area Lead Team Member, SQMS
Dr. M. Sohaib Alam is a quantum computing research scientist at the NASA Ames Research Center with a focus on developing quantum algorithms both for the near-term and the fault-tolerant era. Of particular interest are algorithms that may have relevance to high energy and condensed matter systems, combinatorial problems and machine learning. He is also broadly interested in quantum error correction and mitigation.
In the past, Dr. Alam has worked as a quantum applications engineer at Rigetti Computing and as a software developer and machine learning specialist in the tech industry. He has a Ph.D. in theoretical physics (2014) from the Weinberg Theory Group at the University of Texas at Austin.
