Paolo Ferragina leads the Advanced Algorithms and Application Lab (Acube), located at the Department of Computer Science, University of Pisa. They design and implement algorithms for compressing, indexing, searching and mining Big Data. They collaborate on these themes with numerous institutions and companies worldwide.
Paolo has published more than 170 peer-reviewed papers in international journals and conferences on theoretical computer science, some in the top and most renowned TCS venues worldwide. These results led to four U.S. patents and some international awards, among the latest ones, one Yahoo! faculty award and three Google research awards. In 2019, Paolo was a member of the ERC Panel Committee for PE6 – Computer Science and Informatics.
