Areas of Expertise: Quantum Devices, Materials Science
Thrust: Science
Tony McFadden joined NIST in June 2020 and is currently a research scientist in the advanced microwave photonics group working under the supervision of Raymond Simmonds. Prior to joining NIST, he earned his Ph.D. in electrical engineering at the University of California, Santa Barbara, where he also worked as a postdoc from 2017-2020 under the supervision of Prof. Chris Palmstrom. Tony’s expertise is in growth of epitaxial thin films by molecular beam epitaxy with an emphasis on epitaxy of dissimilar materials and interface formation. He has worked with III/V semiconductors, magnetic materials, superconductors and super/semi systems.
